3D printed brackets for Avalon M Zero guide scope

/

The original guidescope for the Avalon M Zero was a heavy Orion 50mm that had to be attached to a separate metal part in order to fit onto the M Zero.

The parts were printed in ABS on the QIDI X-Plus. A very lightweight design, this bracket was printed in parts and then assembled by gluing/screwing together. The holes for the nylon bolts were tapped. The final part looks a bit “industrial” and will not win any design awards but is totally functional. When designing 3D printed parts that have to attach to real world objects, the key is to get the “interface” part dimensions correct. In this case the green base plate that clamps to the m-zero and that the rings attach to.

Some astrophotography taken using the Willaim Optics GTF102mm telescope and Avalon M-Zero with the 3D printed guide scope.
